Production Welder
- Location
- Elkhart, IN
- Type
- Full-time
- Department
- Welding
- Schedule
- 1st shift, 5:00am–1:30pm · overtime available
- Pay
- $21.00 per hour
The parts you weld here don’t sit on a shelf. They go into specialty vehicles, and into seating that people use every day. If you like seeing a stack of raw steel turn into finished parts by the end of your shift, and you’d rather be on a team that has your back than one that just watches the clock, we’d like to meet you.
Wait Industries is a metal fabricator in Elkhart. Under one 96,500 sq ft roof we laser-cut, bend, weld and powder coat, so the parts you build go from your booth to paint to the customer without leaving the building. We’re adding welders to keep up with orders.
What you’ll do
- MIG weld production parts and assemblies to the print and the sample part
- Read blueprints and work out your own material measurements
- Check your welds and dimensions before a part moves on, so it’s right the first time
- Keep your welding equipment and work area in good shape
- Flag problems early and help fix them. You won’t get blamed for speaking up.
What you’ll build
Production runs of steel parts and assemblies: components for RVs and cargo trailers, structures for specialty vehicles, and frames and parts for commercial seating. Some jobs are steady repeat runs; others are new parts coming out of prototyping.
What it’s like here
- Early start, early finish. First shift runs 5:00am to 1:30pm, so your afternoons are yours. Overtime is available when you want the extra hours.
- A real production shop. Fiber lasers, CNC tube benders, robotic weld cells and our own powder coat line, all in one building. We keep investing in equipment, including robotic welding, and there’s room to learn if you’re curious.
- Values we actually use. We call them V.A.L.U.E.S.: Victors, not victims. Act with respect, consideration and decency. Live with and learn from your choices. Unselfish support for each other. Everybody matters. Share the tools, use the tools, be successful. In practice that means you own your work, help the person next to you, and get treated with respect.

Nice to have
- 2+ years of MIG welding
